Hello! My name is Olive Patterson and I am from Murray Utah. I have the amazing opportunity to visit Rwanda this coming summer to participate in a Humanitarian trip through an awesome local organization called Youthlinc and their Service Year Program. Their mission is to create lifetime humanitarians by providing students with local and international service opportunities. As part of the program, I will be serving for a total of 80 hours in our local community before going on a 2 week international trip in Rwanda where we will be working with local villagers on numerous different projects.For my local service I will be volunteering at an after school program called Real Life. This program helps mentor refugee and immigrant teens. At this site I will be helping with homework, participating in activities with the kids, as well as helping teach skills that can help with things in the Real World. I will be volunteering once a week for 2 hours and can’t wait to connect with the students there! Then in June I will be able to go to Rwanda where we will work with our team to accomplish many different tasks! My total trip cost will be $4000, and I am looking for ways that I can work to raise that money. If 100 people each donated $40 I would have my trip paid for!
