Hi! My name is Kathleen Malooly, but I go by Grace. I am so excited to be going on a Youthlinc trip this year! My team is going to a small village in Fiji where we will be collaborating with the community there. Although we don't have all our volunteer plans in place, we will be helping build restrooms for the villagers. Fiji is still recovering from the effects of Cyclone Wilson, which hit in 2016, so we hope to help the community rebuild some of what they've lost. Youthlinc had a trip to this village last year as well, so there will be an extra bonus of seeing how the village has been doing since their visit last summer.
Part of doing a Youthlinc trip is also doing 80 hours of local service. I am currently volunteering at Bad Dog Arts, which focuses on bringing out the creativity of kids in their art programs. I used to go to Bad Dog Art camps and had a blast, so it feels like giving back to the community that helped me.

Youthlinc is a Utah non-profit organization dedicated to creating lifetime humanitarians through local and international service. Service Year students contribute 80 hours of local service before their international service trip. In monthly meetings, students - mentored by adult professionals - take leadership roles in planning educational, community health, business development, vocational training and cultural exchange initiatives that are implemented in a small village in Fiji next summer.
