Hello everyone! This summer, I have the opportunity to volunteer in Peru! I am a part of an organization called Youthlinc, and its goal is to create lifelong humanitarians. There I will be able to help many villages along the Amazon river. I will be a part of many projects including, building concrete bridges and pathways for school children and the rest of the community, English lessons with the youth, community health fairs, vocational projects with women, and a business seminar that covers microloans among other topics. Youthlinc is a Utah non-profit organization dedicated to creating lifetime humanitarians through local and international service. Service Year students contribute 80 hours of local service before their international service trip. In monthly meetings, students - mentored by adult professionals - take leadership roles in planning educational, community health, business development, vocational training and cultural exchange initiatives that are implemented in a small village along the Amazon River next summer.
