My name is Joquel Yanabah Begay-Haudley. I am currently twenty-six years old. I am an only child from a single parent home. I am a Navajo from Chinle, Arizona located on the Navajo reservation.

Study abroad will help me achieve my academic goals because it does cover topics and give the hands-on experience required for my Masters of Public Health degree. My professional goal is to be able to see the different cultures and any health related issues that have been discussed in class. To be able to travel, I will experience different cultures, different languages, and different healthcare-related issues. At the same time, being given the opportunity to share my own culture and language.I will be able to give my knowledge from Utah State University to assist the community of Hayfield. As a result, I will bring back all the knowledge I attain to educate others and bring awareness of other countries’ healthcare status.

Youthlinc is a Utah non-profit organization dedicated to creating lifetime humanitarians through local and international service. Service Year students contribute 80 hours of local service before their international service trip. In monthly meetings, students - mentored by adult professionals - take leadership roles in planning educational, community health, business development, vocational training and cultural exchange initiatives that are implemented in a small village outside Pursat, Cambodia next summer.
