Union of Committed Youth (UCY) is a non profit organization based in Malaho Bevalala, Antananarivo - Madagascar.
Our mission is to inspire hope and empower the next generation to find prosperity and build up their communities. Each year since 2021, we've supported a dozen high school graduates from underprivileged backgrounds in Antananarivo in order to:
- Increase the number of youth in academic retention
- Teach them to build resilence through a faithful life
- Guide them to become influential community leaders

*Claudia (shown above) has been working since she was 8 years old to transport more than 2000 bricks a day for less than $2. After completing UCY's 3-month program she has located a sponsor and is now pursuing a degree at the local university. Most young Malagasy cannot afford access to higher education and are left with doing domestic chores or labor intensive work for very little pay.
UCY's intensive 3-month college and job readiness training series help participants make aligned choices in their academic and professional paths. Our young students learn self-awareness, visioning, goal setting and decision-making. Also, we partner with a local Madagascar company to provide French Language courses and Computer Skills training.
Currently, our training series take place in backyard gardens subject to bad weather or in shared common spaces in the city of Antananarivo which comes at a cost.
UCY does not have a reliable venue to carry out our activities
We are asking for your support to raise $5,000 to refurbish an existing house located in the rural outskirts of Ambohimanala into a learning and development center.
These funds will allow us to reinforce and update the structure so that it provides a safe space to learn. Donations will contribute to the following improvements:
- $50 - office and learning supplies
- $75 - presentation white board
- $100 - repair damaged ceiling
- $150 - paint materials and labor
- $200 - electrical materials and installation
- $300 - build a bathroom
- $400 - new aluminum windows and door
- $600 - install new tile flooring
- $750 - meeting chairs
- $1000 - conference tables
- $1250 - 5 refurbished computers
Our hope is the building itself will become a symbol of growth and opportunity for the young Malagasy people and the community who have witnessed the UCY evolve from humble beginnings in backyard gardens to having a permanent structure to call home.
